Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is a core element and priority within a therapy process.

There are however a few and thankfully rare situations where confidentiality cannot be maintained.

If a client disclosed an issue that could potentially lead to an arrestable offence or result in significant harm to self or another person, I am ethically obliged to contact a relevant statutory agency, healthcare setting or the police.

This is usually done in consultation with the client.
